The one woman show will be performed three times (8th, 10th, and 16th of December) at the Etcetera Theatre by Stella Abel.
The show is based on the book “Psyche: Writings of an Erstwhile Poetess” by the Hungarian author Sandor Weores written in 1972 under the Soviet regime of Hungary as a pamphlet of censorship. The story is about a gypsy countess and poet (the alter ego of the author) wandering across Europe during the Napoleonic era in a chauvinistic society, challenging her independence.
Directed by Mark Tarnoki, “PSYCHE” had a successful run in Budapest at the University of Theatre and Film Arts (SZFE) in 2019.
This time it will be a British-Hungarian co-production, translated by David Cseh and produced by Steve Green, to introduce a Central and Eastern European cultural heritage to an English speaking audience.
