From 1642 - 1653  the English revolution turned the world upside down and changed the country forever. Airbrushed out of history as the ‘gap between kings’ these were the days when ordinary women and men imagined another world, in which all were honoured equally. They fought to the death to realise that dream. “Rebels in Heaven” celebrates those ordinary people and the legacy they made for us, today. We live in a time when the arrogance of power is more common than respect and dignity, in this play we hear the voices of those who defied arbitrary power and attempted to build a democracy. We need to hear their voices.
