Description

Opened in October 2012, The Spread Eagle Theatre is Croydon's newest studio theatre. A 50 seat space that is perfect for intimate performances. Much like our sister venue The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham; we champion 'big plays for small spaces' with a focus on new writing. Delivering a varied program all year round, with a mix of in-house productions, co-productions and visiting companies.

The Spread Eagle Theatre sits in the heart of Croydon Town Centre. Easily accessible by bus and just a 10min walk from East Croydon Station and West Croydon (Overground).

History

Built in 1893 The Spread Eagle was originally the Croydon branch of the Union Bank of London - and operated as a financial institution for more than a century. This Grade II listed building enjoys a convenient location on the the corner of the High Street, just next to the Town Hall and the Clock Tower.
