Chewboy Productions are here to help!

Howdy! We’re Georgie & Hal, co-founders of ChewBoy Productions and we’re on a mission to make theatre show filming, trailer creation and creative content solutions affordable for early-career artists.

We began ChewBoy in 2018 as theatre-makers, picking up a string of awards for our shows like EUAN (Best of Brighton Fringe 2019), TETHERED (Innovative Play – London Pub Theatre Awards 2021) and DJ Bazzer’s Year 6 Disco which picked up an OFFIE in 2022. We’ve also curated community events such as ChewFest at the Lion and Unicorn & won the Untapped Award which saw us take our actor-musician show CALIGARI to the fringe with the support of New Diorama.

Across all our years in theatre-making, however, we noticed a large shift. With paper flyering at a lower percentage due to its impact on the environment, traditional ways of theatre-marketing are being replaced. Programmers are less likely to attend your work in person, vying for a recording instead, and trailers, social content and online presence are becoming the norm for selling tickets.

But usually at a grassroots and early-career stage, the options available to create high-quality digital content & show filming are very limited. It’s usually your mate Jerry at the back with their phone, or a company who’ll charge you a bank loan to get a Dear England style recording. There’s very little in-between.

That’s where we come in! Coming from theatre-making, marketing, film-making and creative backgrounds, we understand the importance of working to tight budgets, tight timescales and needing high-quality finished products to:

A) Widen your audience

B) Sell tickets in the first place

C) Progress your career to the next level

So, we wanted to tackle that problem. We provide discounted, subsidised theatre show filming, full digital collaboration and content creation packages and bundle deals which are made possible by our work with NPO organisations, venues and funded companies. This allows a great eco-system of support within our industry, making filming solutions more readily accessible. We’re trying to knock down barriers in the arts by tackling the ever-growing elitist problem rooted in affordability.

Thus far, we’ve worked with over 400 companies in the last 3 years to capture their work and promote their projects, and we want to continue growing our list of collaborators. Recently, we became the Resident Videographers at the Pleasance and Chisenhale Dance, were the UK Digital Film Partners of the Ukraine Fringe 2023, as well as collaborating with the Roundhouse this year too in learning more about how we can develop our levels of support.

This August, we’ll be at the Edinburgh Fringe for the month, and all year round have a base in London with the ability to travel the length of the UK, and even globally if needed.

So, come and be part of the new flavour of fringe theatre filming. We want to help you cook up the best possible recipe for marketing your show and creating a long-lasting, sustainable career with high-quality archival or streaming recordings of your fantastic work.

The ChewBoy promise is, and always has been:

We’ll never leave a bad taste, and our work is always mint.

Look forward to working with ya’ll soon. Drop us a line on film@chewboyproductions.com to get the ball rollin’ today.

All the love,

G & H x
