The Tower Theatre Company aims to provide high quality yet affordable drama while enabling people of all ages and backgrounds to experience every aspect of live theatre. The company has more than 500 members and friends and presents up to 18 full-scale productions a year to a wide public audience.
The Tower produces shows that compete with the best of the professional London fringe. We seek to tackle new theatrical territory as well as to recreate stage classics, but most of all we aim to inspire audiences with our creativity, passion and collaboration.
Formed in 1932, the company was originally known as the Tavistock Repertory Company, being the resident company of the Tavistock Little Theatre in London’s Tavistock Place. It was renamed the Tower Theatre Company after moving into the Canonbury Tower in 1952, where it remained for 50 years until 2002. The following years on the road saw the company performing in many different London venues such as The Bridewell Theatre, Theatro Technis and Upstairs at the Gatehouse. In 2018, after many years of searching for the perfect venue, the company moved to its new permanent home in Stoke Newington.
