Suzann McClean, CEO & Artistic Director of Theatre Peckham has been announced as a finalist for the 2022 Black British Business Awards, an annual event celebrating some of the country’s top professionals and entrepreneurs.
Theatre Peckham were the winners of the Special Award at the OffWestEnd Awards 2022
Founded in 2014, the Black British Business Awards (BBBAwards) celebrates the exceptional performance and outstanding achievements of black professionals and business owners in the UK.
To date, the BBBAwards have showcased over 350 individuals and 80 organisations who are championing Black excellence in business. The BBBAwards ceremony is a key highlight of Black History month in the UK and the celebration is attended by senior business leaders, government officials and prominent Black influencers from all industries.
Suzann McLean is an award-winning creative artist, with 27 years’ industry experience as an actor, director, mentor and lecturer. She is recognised for building safe spaces where marginalised people can unapologetically experience and participate in theatre. Alongside an extensive career as an actor Suzann founded Young and Talented in 2004, nurturing and developing young people for stage, screen and life. In recognition of the impact of this work she was selected to be a torch bearer for the 2012 Olympics. As CEO and Artistic Director of Theatre Peckham, Suzann leads one the UK’s most exciting and innovative theatres that champions young people and underrepresented voices. She led Theatre Peckham through an inclusive organisational change programme establishing its reputation as a multi-award-winning venue that provides creative industry training, employment opportunities and a platform for dynamic creatives who are locally focused with a national and international vision.
